8TH GRADE/PROMOTION INFORMATION

8th Grade Promotion Information

  • 8th Grade Gown: Purchasing will begin April 7, 2025

    • Place your order in the office before school, during nutrition break/lunch or after school

    • $25 Cash Only

  • 8th Grade Field Trip - May 16, 2025 - Permission Slips Due May 2nd.

    • Permission slips were distributed April 9th and are due May 2nd to be turned into each student’s history teacher. Students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, no more than two semester “F’s. They must also not have been suspended for six or more days throughout the school year and must not have any outstanding fines. 

  • 8th Grade Dinner/Dance: Saturday, May 10, 2025: 5pm - 7pm at Yolo

    • Students must have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, no more than two semester “F’s,” and no more than one unsatisfactory citizenship grade to attend. Students must also not have been suspended for five or more days throughout the school year and must not have any outstanding fines. 

  • YMS 8th Grade Awards Night - Wednesday, May 15: 5:30 - 7:30pm at Yolo

    • By invitation only

Promotion Ceremony

  • May 28, 2025

    • 5:30 pm Line up at OHS

    • 6:00 pm Ceremony begins

    • Gowns will be worn, but not caps

    • Any balloons, signs, or other items that may obstruct the view of others or noisemakers of any kind will not be allowed, nor will students be allowed to carry any flowers, balloons, or gifts during the ceremony.

    • There will be two promotion ceremony practices with students, and they will be on May 27th and 28th. These practices are for students only.
